Honoring the Sacred Bean
Hi there, we’re Tinna and Jacob, a husband and wife team running a small cacao webshop here in Iceland.
We’re a little bit in love with cacao. Not just the taste (though that helps), but what it’s brought into our lives and what we’ve seen it do for others. We genuinely believe this plant carries something special, a kind of quiet magic that can shift how you feel, think, and move through life.
Our story with cacao started unexpectedly.
One dark Icelandic winter, our car was barely cooperating, life felt heavy, and we were both in that all-too-familiar “everything is a bit too much” space. Somehow, in the middle of that, we ended up at a cacao ceremony. Not planned, not perfect, just one of those moments that unfolds anyway.
And honestly? Nothing dramatic happened in the ceremony itself.
But afterward… something had changed.
We felt lighter. More open. A bit brighter inside. Life didn’t suddenly become easy, but it felt softer, more spacious, more manageable.
That feeling stuck with us.
Curious, we started exploring cacao more deeply, trying different varieties from around the world, drinking it daily, learning everything we could. And before we knew it, there was no going back. It had quietly become part of our everyday rhythm.
The more we learned, the more we understood why cacao has been held in such reverence for thousands of years, and why it’s often called a superfood today. It supports energy, lifts mood, nourishes the body, and, for many, opens a deeper sense of connection, to self, to others, and to life itself.
And that’s how KakóGull came to be.
A simple idea, really: to share something that made a real difference in our lives.
Today, our mission is to bring high-quality ceremonial cacao to Iceland and beyond, one cup at a time , and to share a small ritual that might just make life feel a little warmer, a little fuller, and a little more connected.
With love & cacoa goodness,
Tinna & Jacob
